Feedback:

I used to work at McDonnell Douglas and after merger with Boeing in 1998 at Boeing. I managed numerous critical programs, all of them successfully. Started with Product Support in Long Beach in Building 54 where I transitioned technical publications to electronic publications, subsequently I worked in New Commercial Products, then got transferred to MD-11 program office where I managed China Easter Freighter, then MD-11 take off weight increase and underfloor crew rest modifications. Got transferred to MD-90 to salvage MD-90 vacuum waste program which was started 18 months late to Normal Lead times etc. Then after merger with Boeing I managed termination of MD-11, MD-80, MD-90 and China trunkliner including disposition of aircraft tooling world wide. After commercial programs at Long Beach were terminated, got transferred to C-17 where I managed projects for Aircraft Systems (mostly fuel systems modifications). While on C-17 I led program management segment for the CMMI level 5. Afterwards I was transferred to Seal Beach to manage CMMI for GPS program. After GPS IIF program was awarded level 5 CMMI, I transferred to FCS program to Chief Engineering office. My last project was cross domain certification for the Army's FCS program. When I got this program, it was projected to fail but instead we were successful and got recognition from Army and NSA. During my tenure at MCD/Boeing, I got numerous awards and recognition although as an immigrant from Poland I was not eligible for managerial promotions. After being laid off I retired. After 27.5 years of working McDonnell Douglas/Boeing I got pension which is about 29% of my most recent salary at Boeing, with no cost of living adjustment and no medical insurance (that was penalty placed on MDC employees in 1994 by Harry Stenocipher who became CEO after John McDonnell retired). For comparison, had I worked for city of Huntington Beach, my retirement would be 78% of my salary and I would have medical insurance and cost of living adjustments. So that shows you how much better government employees have in comparison to employees in the private sector. As they say, it was good while it lasted, now I have numerous memories of heroic time spent at MCD and at Boeing. Time to write the book to document this important chapter of US industrial history. .
