Feedback:

The view is unbeatable

Feedback:

Wait staff is very friendly. Food is ok. Had the macaroni and cheese, and the chicken Monterey. Neither had much flavor. Mac and cheese was supposed to come with grilled vegetables- came out with only broccoli. Waitress was nice and brought out grilled onions and mushrooms to add to.

Feedback:

The location can’t be beat for hikers. I’m giving it four stars because I’d give anywhere there three for being clean and adequate with friendly staff, and a fourth for the location of this one. It’s basic and totally typical for Xanterra national park lodging, and compared to chain hotels in cities it’s much simpler, but it’s fine given the location and the options. It was clean and the checkin staff were friendly. Checkin was available around 3-4pm, and checkout was at 11am. We had a pretty nice suite with what I think was two full beds, as well as a wide-seating couch and bedding in a closet to allow for sleeping on it. The bathroom had doors to both the bedroom and the living room. The bathroom has large bottles of toiletries, which I appreciate because it creates less waste and because we needed a ton of moisturizer and a small hotel-sized bottle wouldn’t have been enough—it’s crazy dry and we were applying moisturizer 3-4 times per day. We didn’t have time to turn on the TV between hiking, eating, and sleeping, but there was one. The staff didn’t have a handle on the shuttle service or schedule, which was frustrating, and they should to provide the basic information guests will need. But I get that they do the hotel and the park does the shuttle, so we could and should have called or checked with the park service to get the shuttle details. Apparently the schedule had recently changed for fall hours or some such. The food is lacking at this lodge, but it’s lacking all over the South Rim, so that’s not specific to the Bright Angel Lodge.
