I recently had to order a replacement emergency key for our First Alert safe which is affiliated with BRK Brands. I could not get into the safe as the batteries had died and I could not locate our emergency key. The process is fraught with hassles:If you want to email your notarized ownership statement, which is required to be processed, you cannot take a picture of the completed form—they won’t accept it. Since most people who are in need of a replacement key to get into their safe want it now the process is not designed to meet the customers needs. I took a picture of my notarized form and emailed it in. I waited several hours and then called. The representative was polite and put me on hold while he looked into it. That was how I found out they would not accept the picture. He said to put it into PDF form and resend it and he would be looking for it. I did so within 5minutes and after about an hour no call from First Alert. I call, am put on hold, and am now told that the PDF is unacceptable. It has to be a scan of the notarized letter. So I scan it and send it via email within 5minutes. I was told again that they would be looking for it and they will call. No call so I call. They put me on hold and then say it is now good and ask for my cc info. I give them the info and all is good except the only option is USPS regular mail. Finally I get the key a few days later and it is the wrong key. They transposed the last two digits of the key. I let them know via email and ask them to call to let me know they will overnight the correct key. I get a reply email saying call them and then they will process the replacement. I call, because I have to have the key, and am told they only do regular mail. I protest and they acquiesce with two day delivery—a compromise I guess. They really need to look at how this process is handled as from the customer prospective it is is not good at all.
