Client Review on Chamber Of Commerce

Feedback:

We are from the Washington DC area and have loved coming to Chincoteague/Assateague Island since 1976. We have talked with friends and neighbors about this area over the years and many of them also come here on vacation.. Tonight when we went out to the Creamery for dessert, we were picked up in a speed trap. The speed on the island is 25 mph which we did not know since there are very few signs. The speed is much slower than most people drive and not necessary for our safety as the officer that stopped kept repeating. He was very nice and professional but It is obviously a speed trap to earn money- $150. We were traveling at a very reasonable speed for these roads, as we have for the last 41 years when we have visited here. We are in our early 70's and drive very carefully. We were shocked to be stopped by an officer and were even more amazed at the cost of the fine. If the officer was stopping us for our safety he could have warned us. The reasonable conclusion that most people would make is that this is a money making endeavor and has nothing to do with safety. After all these years It has really soured us to Chincoteague and we will consider this before we plan our next vacation. The Chamber of Commerce should be aware of the negative effect it has on tourism. We plan to share out experience with others.
