Wow, was I pleasantly surprised by the experience here. Having moved to TX from FL recently I was dreading having to go through this process after experiences in FL and reading online reviews. I got there early (before it opened) and waited in line. When it opened a team of friendly staff quickly gets everyone through to a number and then I only waited about 20 minutes. I had Jeanette go through all the paperwork with me- super efficient and friendly too! I was in and out in less than 40 minutes. Would highly recommend going here if you need to get a new TX DL.

For a major center it was severely short staffed and it took 5 hours to get a “duplicate” license based on this new “real ID” requirement by Oct. 2020. (arrived at 10:45 am left at 4:11 pm). I thought I was getting a head start (my license doesn’t expire until 2022) but I spent 5 hours of my life I’ll never get back only to find out I also needed my birth certificate or passport to move forward not just a valid driver’s license (luckily I had my passport) but one lady who waited as long as I did didn’t have either! DPS should do better! People, you have until 10-1-20 to get this new ID star/chip if you so choose. The cost was $11 and the date is not extended if your license hasn’t expired. Finally there was one female worker who was kinda rude to people who tried to ask her questions. I resolved she just needed to eat a Snickers bar. It was a long day for all of us!!

Waited 4.5 hours to get a drivers license renewed. Tried “making an appointment” on-line....with no success. Recommend you pack a book, food, sleeping bag etc and lots of patience.

Got there 30 minutes before opening and there was a line down the side of the building. In result, took 2 hours to renew my license. Seems to defeat the purpose of an "Mega Center." However, facility was clean and had many places to sit once inside.

Yes, there's a ton of people there! Suggestion... wake up early and sit outside for 2 hours before they open or you will be waiting all day long. Doug and the supervisors move things as fast as they can, you really can't expect better from a mega center filled with hundreds of people!

Yes It's crowded. Yes It takes a long time. But they are very efficient, kind, helpful, and overall great at what they do. Even when the customer was swearing and yelling at the worker because he had been waiting for 20 minutes, the staff handled it very professionally. Best experience at a DPS so far.

Arrived at 8am and already had 61 people ahead of me. Waited two and a half hours before it was my turn. I don’t know why I got denied for a license for vehicle registration reasons because I had a vehicle title and inspection paper that both said Texas addresses on them in my name. I’m tired of hearing the phrase “it’s the law”. I had everything checked off to get my license and this was not good enough. My out of state license is going to expire and I’m going to be screwed.
