I have been going to Garden City Library for about 2 years. The staff is comprised of 9 extremely competent, knowledgeable and compassionate individuals. They are second to none! The director, James, has tremendous leadership skills. He doesn't talk down to the librarians. He works with them side-by-side. He has truly discovered the secrets of leadership and demonstrates this day-after-day. The other 8 members of the staff are also outstanding in the performance of their duties. They are knowledgeable, patient, and have extraordinary people skills. They especially show a great deal of empathy toward children, seniors, and the physically and mentally challenged. It's not just a job to them - it's a calling. I look forward to going to this library because I know the staff will make me feel welcome and make my visit a positive experience. I find it especially phenomenal that they do it all on a shoe-string of a budget in an undersized building. They are truly, "The Keepers of the Flame!"
