This company is a complete joke. We researched for weeks to find a home to stay in at the OBX. My mother is in heart failure and has cancer. Midgett realty had a house in Avon (the town we’ve stayed in for over 20 years with other realty companies) that had an elevator which was a necessity for our stay. It was ocean front and linens were provided. Due to lack of maintenance in the septic system of this home, we woke up to a horrible smell and a basement full of waste. We had to pack up and move to a midgett realty home in a different town 30 miles up the road, sound side, with NO elevator. We managed to get through the week even though it exhausted our mother. I made it clear that we expected compensation for our trouble. Our “compensation” came to a little over $100 even though we paid over $3000 for the original house. Back and forth we went but that’s the best they could do. “Book with us again and we’ll give you $200 off. GET REAL. We will NEVER book with this company again and I recommend nobody else does either.

Or house had roaches. Wasted an entire day arguing with the manager about another house. He would not give us a house equivalent to what we purchased. He was very very rude and had the worst customer service I have ever encountered. Tried to play off the roaches as, "down here we call them water bugs". Exterminator came out and confirmed they were roaches and even said there were droppings in the master bed. Totally disgusted. They ended up making a deal with a house with Haterass Realty and they were beyond pleasant to work with. Never using Midgett Realty again!

We were one of the renters that got evacuated from a hurricane. Yes, we had trip insurance but still lost money. Midgett Realty didn’t try to relocate our family in another rental they managed and still charged us full price for our “2 night stay”, check in night and pack up night! The evacuation stress, driving hours, insurance forms, figuring out where to go and what to do just added to the disappointing loss of money as a whole. I completely understand some things are out of their control, but as a client you would think you want to make the situation better by offering some compensation or discount for the clients troubles. People save up all year, plan for months and drive hours to enjoy a vacation with loved ones. We have stayed in the OBX every summer but will not be using Midgett or their insurance company again.

We've used Midgett for years now, never had a bad experience with them. The staff has always been helpful and friendly. We just got evacuated by a hurricane last Monday after checking in on Saturday they did a great job keeping us informed in what was difficult situation for them as well. Thank you!
