Update 4/30/19: DMV is charging random fees. I was charged an additional $50 with no explanation regarding what this is for. I was told by the ladies at the Wilson office that the only reason I'm being charged the additional 50 is bc I have to renew my registration. I qas then told by these ladied that the only way to avoid this fee is to turn in my plate. Nice to know that these ladies take great delight in taking money from my disabled husband and me.DMV is running another scam. Supposedly I have to get my car inspected before I know the cost of property taxes and registration. DMV staff stop lying. 1st of all: My husband got his bill one month ago with a due date and the amount owed. 2nd of all: Having to get the inspection before paying the property taxes is not new. I'm not paying this bill without knowing in advance how much it is. I will not allow DMV staff to make up an amount. If the DMV knows how much my husband's property tax is, then the DMV knows how much mine is. Driver's beware. NCDMV is running money scams during the holiday season. Drivers are receiving letters which notify drivers of bogus insurance lapses and plates are being revoked. Drivers have to pay money to get plates reinstated immediately or request a hearing.
