Ever since the District Council took over 3 months ago from Oxford Innovation, this Harborough Innovation Centre has gone downhill. Reduced services and a lack of consideration to how the businesses in here are affected by their actions. The cafe has the best coffee in town. However...BEING HONEST:If you read this review, you may think we were one of the many businesses asked to leave, and therefore bitter. This is not the case. I just hate bad service, especially when you pay £9,000 pa to rent an office.RECEPTION TEAM:Every single member of the reception team has now left since the take-over, even the business coach Kate – which was one of the reasons we moved here. The new team have never introduced themselves, we don't know who they are. CAR PARKING (LACK OF):The building is only 75% full, and yet the car park can be too full - there is no where else to park. When this centre books out the conference rooms, they email us the afternoon before and suggest we find alternative methods to travel. Bit annoying, as it is the tenants that pay for the space, and should expect to park at their office.Councillors use this building as a meeting centre, so when 10 or more come in their cars, the car park is under a lot of strain.HEATING/VENTILATION (TOO HOT, TOO COLD):The previous centre manager let us into a little secret when we wanted to move to the middle floor and a bigger office – the offices overlooking the car park get ridiculously hot in the Summer. She said we will want to move back out by July, so suggested we should not leave the ground floor room that overlooks the rear of the site. Very few offices have aircon. Be warned, you will drip sweat. I am surprised that so many people will put up with that upstairs (they complain but don't move because there is no where else to move to really).SOUND INSULATION (LACK OF):The walls are paper thin. There is no sound-proofing. We have heard people in the meeting room next door crying, being fired, strategy discussions, council meetings – we turn the music on loud to avoid it. We have complained about the sound issues, professionals have come to look and identified there is no sound insulation, there should be.BREAKOUT/LUNCH AREAS:When the centre has conferences, the delegates use the upstairs dining area, as well they should. That does mean there is no lunch-time seating for tenants to get away from their office. Due to this centre's location, there is nowhere you can walk to get some eating space. In the Summer, the outside pub-bench style seating in the car park is usable – if you think sitting in a car park is a nice way to spend your lunchtime.TRAVELLER COMMUNITY:This week, the local traveller's children were walking around the car park, looking in cars. My colleague was in her car when they stared in. They mostly keep away from this site, there is CCTV. We have shutters on the ground floor windows for a reason I guess.POST COLLECTION (LACK OF):This week the centre manager emailed saying that after a review they will no longer collect personal mail (Amazon parcels etc). After a bit of prodding and asking them how they can determine which is personal and which is samples our clients send us they will now store them in a pile near the front door. This reception service was a benefit that was an incentive for moving in here. The reception will answer calls for you (at a cost) and take post (at a cost).MOBILE PHONES (NO SIGNAL):If you are considering moving here, check the signal. Plenty of us can't use our mobiles (EE and Vodafone) unless you use Wifi calling.EVICTIONS:Some businesses were, without notice, or explanation, were asked to leave. Some had a few months notice, some 18 months. We did not hear about this till we read in in the local news. So, we weren't asked to leave, hence not being told internally. From what I see from the inside, it's not the place it was 12 months ago. So many businesses have left, and more are leaving – Eckland Lodge is the kind of modern, eco-ventilated office space this should be.

I went here to meet some clients with my boss. The venue is clean and tidy and the facilities provided very good. Highly recommended. Parking was a problem but I'm assured they have plenty usually.
