My husband and I stayed at the George in September for one night. What an amazing experience! We checked in early and drove 15 minutes into bath and had a great visit but I was antsy to get back and explore our hotel. We had a beautiful …Read more on TripAdvisor

Tonight we went for dinner at the place where we spent our wedding night 9 years ago today. We have eaten here quite a few times since, including our work Christmas meal, and have always been really impressed. However tonight we were both …Read more on TripAdvisor

Feedback:

I stayed here mid-week last week just for one night as I was loooking at a house to rent near Bath. So glad I found this place. What an amazing atmosphere and so much history in it and in the surrounding areas and nearby 14th century church! Big, old, fireplaces keeping the pub cosy, super friendly staff, comfortable room kept in the historic style but with a nice, modern bathroom. Everything was very clean. The radiators kept the room lovely and warm. Great choice of tea and biscuits were in the room and were also nicely presented and clean. For dinner I had the soup of the day (leek and potato) and a quinoa and veggie bowl. The food was excellent! Only thing that was disappointing - and I hate to say anything negative about this wonderful place - was the breakfast. Having recently moved back from many years living abroad, I was really looking forward to a good "Full English" brekkie. I had bacon, sausage, mushrooms, a hash brown, black pudding, and a poached egg. The food tasted fine but it seemed to have been kept under the warmer for a long time and was rather dry. The poached egg was not that great either. Sorry guys. Everything else was amazing :)

We loved this historic 700 year old inn. Our room was in the George, and was large and very comfortable, and the antique decor made it very atmospheric. Around the inn are historic items associated with the Duke of Monmouth, who stayed …Read more on Hotels.com

Feedback:

Amazing historic building. Super friendly courteous staff. Fab visit.I first visited this lovely old Inn 49 years ago. Recently, I booked a three night stay for my husbands birthday treat. The building was just as amazing as I had remembered it. I booked 'The Sedgemoor' room as I specifically wanted us to have a four poster bed in The George Inn itself (rather than The Plaine guesthouse/annex across the road - although I am sure that The Plaine is perfectly nice too). The parking to the side of The George is very convenient and accommodates a good number of cars. We went into the bar on arrival and we were greeted by Linda who is the manager. She booked us in and offered to help carry our heavy case upstairs to our room. Linda was smiley and friendly which always gives a good first impression. 'The Sedgemoor' room was wonderful. Full of history and character. The room was clean and had a wall mounted TV. There was a kettle along with a good selection of tea, coffee, drinking chocolate, milk, sugar etc., also Border biscuits which are lovely. This was fully replenished each day when the room was cleaned and our bed made. The bathroom had a bath with a hand held shower mixer tap arrangement. ( I would only constructively comment that the bath needs a shower curtain or screen to stop water going on the floor as for those of us who cannot physically sit in a bath it is difficult to manage this arrangement). The bathroom was stocked with toiletries which again were replenished. Breakfast was great. My husband had a full English each day and I had the vegetarian breakfast. There was plenty of both white and wholemeal toast, cereals, fruit juice, fresh fruit, tea and coffee. We were served superbly by Ricky who was friendly, smiley, extremely courteous and efficient. Outstanding service. He made us feel very welcome. Also Henry who was efficient, informative and knowledgeable. Sunday lunch was great. My husband had roast lamb and I had the vegetarian option. The Yorkshire puddings were lovely. All in all, this was a very nice stay indeed and top marks to Linda, Ricky and Henry - a great team!
