I came home late one Saturday night in February 2011 to find that I had an ice dam that was leaking in through my bathroom window sill. It was too late at night to do much, so I kept sopping up the puddle, and doing my best to minimize the damage. Eventually, the cold outside refroze the moisture and I was able to go to bed. The next morning, I had no idea who to call or what to do to resolve the issue. I'd met Charlie Harrison a few times at a networking meeting, and he'd recently spoken about ice damage and what to do. So, I shot him an e-mail early that Sunday morning with a subject line that read "If you read your e-mail on Sunday, give me a call!" Immediately my phone rang, and Charlie clearly walked me through everything I needed to do. His calm responses and positive attitude made me feel as though everything was going to work out alright; and thanks to his guidance and connections, it did!That would all be a great customer service story if he were my insurance agent. But at that point in time, he wasn't! I was simply someone he knew that needed help. I didn't even know the name of my own insurance rep anymore. So, Charlie quickly became my new one!
