I have 25 years in the business and "inherited" this agency when charged with handling my elderly parents accounts. This agency does little other than to relay messages passed on to them by the company. I asked them to cancel a policy on a home we had sold and they replied by quoting an e-mail from the company refusing to do so. It should have been obvious to anyone with minimal insurance knowledge that there was some sort of misunderstanding as there was no way a company would insure a property in the name of someone who has no ownership interest in it. That's insurance 101 and is something that is covered in the first 15 minutes of any insurance licensing class. When I asked them to call the company and speak to the underwriter to insure they understood the situation, they refused and told me to call them myself. I spoke to the owner, John, and asked him why I should employ an agent who won't even complete the most basic tasks on my behalf, and his reply is that "I probably shouldn't"........and neither should you. There are plenty of great independent agents out there who look forward to the chance to service their customers. They know this is what sets them apart from the 1-800 carriers who offer little to nothing beyond cheap coverage. So if you're looking for an independent, stay way from these guys as they'll happily take your premium and their commission, but will offer little when you really need them.As a postscript................After getting the phone number from my own agent, I called the company and not only did they have the wrong information, they indicated they were looking for a document I had provided The Faneuf Agency a year and a half ago. Once I provided that, they immediately cancelled the policy and sent me the pro-rated refund.
