Feedback:

Nice apartments, but horrible office staff and questionable business practice. My rent is suppose to be around 850 a month, but after the "included" cable charge (which you can not opt out of, even if you don't watch cable; It's 2018! No one watches cable anymore), then comes the washer/dryer rental, then on top of that you have to rent a refrigerator for at least a year. After that the rents are up at least 100 dollars more than expected. There's also the non-refundable "decorator's fee" in the sum of your monthly rent amount (but not before all the extras are added in!) I'm guessing they have to call it that to legally rip you off, as if the kick backs from mandatory Service Electric cable aren't enough. Speaking of Service Electric, that is your only option for internet/phone/tv provider. They have their own problems. For ONLY internet at 50mbps it's $75 a month. With current deals you can get 100mbps from Verizon Fios for around 40 bucks! I don't know how Service Electric fabricated this monopoly, but I'm sure it's the only thing keeping them in business. After all that, I do have to say the building I live in is very nice with nice wood parquet floors (which are in basically every apt). I do not live in the 3 story apartment buildings but in the less common "split level" type apartments. The windows are newer with storm windows and screens. The walls are decently sound proof and solid; I've never really had a problem with noise from neighbors. The decks and patios are adequate. The one maintenance request I submitted was taken care of the next business day and the worker was great. Snow removal and community upkeep was also very good during the 1.5 years I lived there. The pond could be cleaner, but I guess it's hard to keep clean when there's at least 50 geese at any given time. There are feral cats running around and urinating on patio furniture. The first day I moved in there was a feral cat fight right outside my window and the next morning my deck chair smelled like cat urine. The only major complaint I have is the office staff, the communication time (Don't expect quick responses!), and the billing. The kitchen appliances and cabinets are also dated, but not substandard. The central air vents don't have filters and were literally CLOGGED with dust when I moved in. The AC unit is at least 15 years old and very loud and rusty. It's situated about 2 feet from the apartment. The noise is annoying and I'm sure these old AC units lead to higher than average energy bills. Storage space in the apartments could be better. There is plenty of parking. I wouldn't not recommend this property, but there are better properties in the area with better amenities, better staff, and better business scruples. This place, if you give them the opportunity, will try to screw you. Beware.

Great community! Friendly staff.

Best place to live, work & play

Feedback:

Feral cats everywhere due to people feeding them. They urinate on my porch and my property on the porch. Smells outside my front door too. Can’t go outside without noticing it and it’s January. Hoping I won’t be here when the weather warms up this spring.

I lived in flying hills for over a year. It was a horribly frustrating experience. Management and maintenance crew are of very little help. Mold and insects (even a snake!) in apartment, poorly treated roads in the snow leaving you stranded.....Ive had to put in over 10 service requests in for a "new" apartment. everything from no heat, lights flickering, front door not locking, major issues with bugs and insects inside, mold all over my bed room walls from water leaking in my windows into the drywall, etc, etc. It takes maintenance several days if not weeks to come out and take a look, they leave you a post it note saying "problem fixed" when it wasn't. You can never speak to them directly, have to call the receptionist in the leasing office. All they did about the mold was wipe it off and paint over it, mold came back 2 days later. The most frustrating of all is that the roads are not salted (rarely plowed even) when there is snow. For an area with so many hills and steep roads they need to take better care of the roads in the winter. I had to miss work on more than one occasion due to roads being neglected. Management says they're not responsible for the roads, the town is. I called the township and they admitted that flying hills gets "neglected" when there is snow because "plows have a hard time getting up the hills."

Mold warning! I lived at Flying Hills for just over a year and was very unhappy with a few different things. However, the worst part about living there was the terrible mold issue. I walked in to my spare bedroom one day, and the ceiling and all the walls were COVERED in spots of mold. I looked throughout the rest of the unit and found moldy spots in every room except for the kitchen -- we only found the mold in there after moving the refrigerator out. When a member of the maintenance crew came, he blamed me for not keeping the AC down low enough and said it wasn't mold, it was condensation. I kept the AC at 70°, not 85°! The "condensation" only went away after being scrubbed violently with bleach. When I asked if maintenance would clean it, he said no. Our neighbors also struggled with the mold, and one couple with a young child even broke their lease early due to it. The apartments are dark and damp, so it's not a surprise that mold is an issue. In addition to the mold issues, the apartments are over priced, there is a non-refundable "cleaning fee" before you move, and the office staff is not very helpful.

Feedback:

Mold in flying hills is an ongoing problem that they refuse to handle properly, they will scrape, wash, and repaint. Window return in master bedroom leaks when it rains and has still yet to be fixed.not to mention the people are not very friendly, nor do they obey the posted speed limit signs.DO NOT LIVE IN FLYING HILLS

Feedback:

Great place to live. Just far enough from the city to hear the birds sing but not too far away to go grocery shopping, car wash , etc. Loved my time living there. Staff was always available and helpful with any questions that came up . IF there was ever was a need for a work order on the apartment; the turnaround time was fast. Plenty of space to walk / run around the property . Pool area is big enough and even has servers for food & drinks ! When looking at all the factors : cost, location, amenities, and service.... Flying Hills is hard to top.

Feedback:

I have lived in a flying hills unit for 2 years. unit is great , the maintenance guys are good, despite the good, due to the worst management team I have ever worked with in my 58 years I strongly recommend to anyone considering flying hills should think twice.
