This bar has always been a great place to visit. I have been going here for over 30years, since it was known as Nickleby's, as good as Allotment although slightly more avante garde clientele.There are more gins than stars in the sky's and served with panache, a must visit bar if you are ever in Manchester.

Latest review based on visit of 28th September 2019 at 6.30 pm:We had booked a table for 4 and asked for a quiet table but were given one closest to the bar area and this area was heaving with drinking lads and was incredibly loud.That reminds me, when I booked I asked if the venue was busy at that time usually on a Saturday and was told, "not really"! They even told me that my table would be far away from the bar area!Then we were told that they ran out of draft lager!The food was just ok. The attitude of misleading customers to get them to make bookings and then for a pub to not even have lager on tap is unforgivable. Ps: they even ran out of bottles of Peroni.What a miserable dive this place has sunk to.Update Review: Popped in on the weekend of May Day bank holiday 2019. There were a couple of moody young girls serving at the bar and they took forever to serve us so we just decided to leave and try a more pleasant atmosphere. Old review: The food is good.

Not like advertised on the internet. Very busy and loud. Many things on the menu unavailable. Some before ordering and others after. Monkfish chewy. Coffee infused steak tasted great if you had been wanting an espresso. Served by a friendly member of staff. Lacked atmosphere.
