Feedback:

I called reaching out for help and was told my multiple people as well as county reps that I should contact grassroots. I called on a weeknight. I explained I was homeless and have 2 young kids. That I’ve been staying in a nasty hotel and was hoping they could give some direction. I was told “this isn’t a shelter, its a crisis center”. Okay, thanks.. I wasn’t asking to spend the night. I was hoping for some help? Programs, any other business that could help. “Are you a howard county resident?”Yah. Have been for some time. And both my jobs are in Howard county...... I was told they can rake my info and it’ll let them know what they can help with (ok...?) BUT they were switching computer software so to call backThe next day. *scoff* needless to say,I didn’t call back. I just continue to pay $2000 a month for a hotel and not be able to register my kids for school. Thanks for nothing Howard county. As usual.

Feedback:

My family were treated very good, we were given lots of resources. Our case manager Melissa was so great to us.She went out of her way to help us. My family is now housed , and it is truly one of grassroots success stories. Thank you so much. For the people on here complaining and giving bad reviews, maybe you should look at the part you play in your life. There is no way anyone that works at grassroots treated anybody with out dignity. The people there are so great, and most of them would give there shirts off there back. You have to remember people this place is totally ran off of donations from the outside, even food, so lets not complain about a sandwich. They do the very best they can do. A very big thank you to the people ho volunteer there time and money to help others in need. A special thank you to Melissa.

Caring people. Thank God for their work

Feedback:

This place is awful! Do NOT trust them! They said I was suicidal even though I repeatedly told them that I was not. Then they called the police on me who took me to the hospital. The hospital determined that I was not in fact suicidal and released me after a week. They also called the human society on me who took my cat and killed him. Do not go to them if you need to talk to someone. Stay VERY FAR AWAY!!!

Feedback:

We had head counselor there help us tremendously. She offered more than what was expected. We appreciated her intervening and offering counsel and help for our son.

Feedback:

What a wonderful organization. Very helpful in crisis with a lot of useful sources to forward you to

Stay far away from this place! These people are criminal, incompetent, and cruel. Do not trust them with your life. I spoke with numerous people at this place who just had an attitude or could not answer any of my questions until I was finally linked to one of their “counselors” Sarah McCoy. After a week of knowing me, she falsely reported information about me after speaking to me over the phone. At the end of the conversation, I stated very clearly that I was safe and would be following up the next day on a referral. Later that evening, the police came to my home, handcuffed me, and took me to the hospital. As a result, I not only owe hundreds of bills but missed out on plans I had for my birthday as well as a very important commitment for work. Since when do people commit you to the hospital without an in-person assessment? You cannot assess someone over the phone. When I confronted Sarah she later changed her story. She also told the hospital I had two different “plans” to harm myself. If someone is thinking of harming themselves how on earth would they have two different plans? Sarah also made a false statement about a reference to my sister. Bottom line is this place should hire competent people. If Sarah felt so confident about her decision I wonder why it is that she filed the EP as a lay person instead of as a provider? I reached out to this god forsaken place to speak to someone about a particular issue and get referrals for trauma. I was never in any imminent harm and I stated that over the phone. Sarah asked if I would be safe for the night and I said YES. I was going to work the next day. Needless to say I will be filing an official complaint to the board of health professions for gross negligence. Their executive director Ayesha Holmes, who was not a witness to any conversation I had with Sarah and responded to me negatively should also be fired for telling lies and dismissing all my concerns. Grassroots is serving the hurting and vulnerable but does not treat those seeking help in an atmosphere of dignity and respect.

Positive and helpful staff.

Feedback:

They are very helpful with the resources they have.

Feedback:

I've called them numerous times, with the police advice, only people to help Columbia residents. Worst help ever. No one to help! We were forced to stay with my child's abusive father because we're too poor to go to a hotel and have no family. Or a car. We could have gone to get a restraining order, but his mother owns the house, so we would have been on the streets.
