How can I express my anger and frustration at the stinking heap of garbage that is Great Plains Communications? I literally can't convey their staggering incompetence, their shoddiness, or their incredibly poor level of customer service. They are by far the worst company I have ever had the unfortunate pleasure of doing business with. I can't believe I have to award them even a single star rating, as they certainly have not done anything to earn it.My family and I live in a rural area in the NE panhandle, so I don't expect that we will have connection speeds on par with a big city. But Great Plains is almost completely worthless. I will be surprised if my internet connection is strong enough to post this comment. The data cap is ridiculously low, the satellite "option" (we have no choice) is the biggest case of price gouging I've seen outside of Sturgis Rally, and even when we're well within our data cap, the internet connection, quality, and consistency is terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible. Did I mention it is terrible? This company is trash. Their customer service is the icing on the cake. Their phone representatives are pleasant enough, but it hardly matters because they can't fix jack squat. Yes I've already tried unplugging it and quantifying the connection speed and all the other tricks before I tried calling you, you useless moron. I've gotten very experienced at it as our internet breaks down about once a week. They never identify the problem, always say they'll put in a work order, and I don't hear from them again. Or anyone. (And no, I am not rude to them as I am in this review.) On multiple occasions, they have said that I "will hear back in 72 hours" or "a local service representative will be showing up to look into repairs", only for them to never make contact again. Seriously, eff these guys. What a bunch of clowns and worthless incompetents. If you are reading this, DO NOT PURCHASE GREAT PLAINS. Run, run the other way as fast as you can. I can't imagine any of their competitors could possibly be worse. They are a complete joke. And you know what? They are the only game in town where we live. I would love, LOVE to switch to another carrier. But Great Plains is the only company that services where we live. How much does that suck? It's like having the only plumbing service in the area be an outhouse repairman. Isn't that like a monopoly, that we literally have no other choice of carrier? Great Plains doesn't care. They don't care about their customers, or quality service or anything. I'm sure Great Plains would argue that bringing the internet to our residence, even crappy internet service, is better than nothing. But for the exorbitant fees we pay them, especially for the compensatory satellite service, we deserve MUCH better. Eat my shorts, Great Plains Communications.
