Client Review on State Farm

Feedback:

My Milton Wright storyMy wife and I bought State Farm insurance when we got married in 1989 and we have had State Farm ever since. Our first agent was wonderful. He called and wrote. He checked on us and looked out for us. Eventually, our agent retired and sold his business to Milton Wright. From that time on, we never heard from our insurance agent. He never called and he never wrote and he never emailed. He just took our payments for years. After a particularly nasty winter hail storm, some of our neighbors were getting their roof damage repaired or roofs replaced. We had hail damage on our roof and even some dents in our cars from the storm. We called our Mr. Wright and filed an insurance claim for hail damage on our roof. We never talked to Milton Wright. Our claim was denied. We called Mr. Wright and one of his office people called us back. We asked for help and we never heard back from anyone.A while later, we got a call from a person in Mr. Wright's office letting us know that if we didn't get a new roof, they would cancel our home insurance. We didn't get a call from our insurance agent, Milton Wright. We got a call from someone in his office. I think a personal touch might be warranted when you are threatening to cancel someone's insurance. So, they deny a claim that other insurance companies in our neighborhood were approving and threaten to cancel our insurance if we didn't replace the roof out of pocket. We had a very difficult time getting the money together and getting someone to do the work. By the time we had everything in place, our time had run out. State Farm cancelled our Home Owners insurance, but people in Mr. Wright's office said it would be reinstated once the roof was repaired. Obviously, never speaking directly with Mr. Wright. We repaired the roof and alerted them. We did get a call back stating that the claim on our insurance (the roof claim that was never approved) created a situation where the cost to reinstate was going to be very much higher than what we were previously paying. Mr. Wright (who we finally got on the phone) suggested that we seek alternate insurance quotes. He basically told us that we would not be able to reinstate our home owner’s policy at a competitive market rate.Well, that was an interesting turn of events. All along the way, this situation was handled miserably. Mr. Wright and his office did not seem to have any understanding of what was happening or how to handle it. We were given incorrect information and Mr. Wright was powerless to intervene on our behalf at any point. We couldn't believe that after dutifully paying our insurance premiums for 27 years we were being treated this way.We have switched to USAA insurance and it was competitively priced with better features than we had previously. We also found out that we were woefully underinsured for home and contents replacement. Again, no assistance, regular checkup, or communication from our State Farm agent, Milton Wright. If you need insurance, check out USAA. If you want State Farm, pick your agent carefully and avoid Milton Wright.
