We have been customers of Oak Island Accommodations for more than 25 years and this week they really let us down. We woke up on the last full day of our week to find the water heater in the cottage spewing water. We turned it off and contacted the after hours maintenance. Water flooded from the kitchen ceiling onto the floor, the upstairs carpet was wet and walls were damp. We elected to leave one day early. After consulting with the owner, we were offered one half of 1 night's rental rate as a refund or a full night's discount on our next stat at the cottage (Turtleopia) which I would not stay in again. We felt a full night refund was fair but the owner and OIA did not agree because we chose to leave early on and not stay while the brought in water extraction equipment and fans. NOT customer friendly!!!
